Picking My Battles

I'm quickly learning that with a 2 year old I have to learn to pick my battles...otherwise my day would be one continuous sentence of "No...don't do that." When Riley wanted her Dora jammies instead of her monkey jammies I let her choose. When she wanted to sleep with farm equipment I hesitated, but decided I could let her have that one too.

This past weekend my siblings and I went through our boxes of childhood memories stored in my parent's attic. This combine was one of the toys we found and Riley loves it. She even had to take it to the babysitter's this morning. I'm not sure how a red combine even ended up at my house growing up. I really doubt my dad would have ever bought us anything red so I'm sure it must have been a gift. Fortunatelly, this is modeled after the actual combine that Tim has so I guess we'll let it slide. I think Riley will definitely be a farm girl. Not only does she sleep with a combine, her favorite potty chair reading material is Fastline and Tractorhouse.

Being 2 is Cool!

Riley turned two on Sunday. It is so hard to believe she is that old. She is really good about things like hats, gloves and now sunglasses. We got her this pair at Walmart and she loves to wear them outside.

Riley Driving!

Riley is really starting to enjoy her Barbie Jeep. Unfortunately she still has no concept of turning and she manages to get it into high gear somehow. Look out!

Spring is Coming!

Two weekends ago we had a nice Sunday afternoon for playing at the farm. We got the swings out and Riley enjoyed playing on the bigger swings. She is about to outgrow the baby swing. She is getting so big!

Riley's 123s

For a couple of months now, Riley has been able to count to 10 by herself. I tried to catch it on video but sometimes understanding her is a little tough. If you know Riley speak, you can translate this video of her counting to 10 a couple of times.

Riley in the Playhouse

Mom sent me this picture of Riley playing in the playhouse. She had given her a new hair-do and was showing me. I thought it looked really cute. The playhouse at my parent's is a little room under the stairs. My brother and I along with many friends spent a lot of time playing in the playhouse as kids.

Golf Cart Ride

Riley's favorite outdoor activity is to ride the golf cart. She stayed a couple of days at my folks over the weekend and got to do her first riding of the season. I'm looking forward to warmer days so we can do some of that at the farm.
