6 1/2 Months

Went for another check-up yesterday. Now that it is every two weeks I feel like that is all I do anymore. The Dr. seemed very pleased with the heartrate and said all looked fine. The baby is kicking a lot and very active. I had to do the glucose screening and Rh factor blood work. I won't know the results until after Christmas. Tim and I also signed up for our birthing classes to begin in February.

6 Month Check-Up

I went yesterday for my 6 month visit and all is well. The baby is moving a lot lately and according to measurements the Dr. said I'm a little ahead of schedule. I don't know what that means in terms of the due date at this point. I'm sure growth rate probably varies as time goes on. He said the heartrate sounded very normal. I'll now be going every two weeks for checkups.

We've been following my cousin Sandra and her family's trip to Kaz to bring home their new son Eli. If you want to check out their experience you can see their blog at http://elijohnbryant.blogspot.com/

We also found out that Dale and Andrea Broach from our Coldwater church are expecting a baby on June 3rd. Dale and Tim went to school together. We are excited for them. I've included a picture below of Coldwater's float in the Christmas parade in Murray and one from our scene at the live nativity sponsored by the UM Churches of Calloway County.

Tim was right!

When we left for the Dr. this morning Tim said he was convinced our baby was a girl and he was right. At least 95% according to the doctor. The only pictures he printed for us were of the baby's bottom so we don't really have any interesting pics to post yet. Next appointment is in 4 weeks at the 6 month mark.

What a sweet surprise!

At the end of our volleyball banquet the parents suprised me with a shower of baby gifts. It was very touching and I was quite surprised. I received a lot of nice goodies including diapers, outfits, blankets and toys. Apparently Tim knew all about it ahead of time but didn't let it slip so it was a total shock. I was glad he was there too. Especially when it came time to carry things out!

Some Sad News

We just found out that Brad and Carrie lost their baby. Our sympathy and prayers go out to them and their families. The age gap between their baby and ours would have been about the same between Brad and I when we were growing up so this is very upsetting news.

More babies...

We just found out that Brad(my cousin) and his wife Carrie are expecting their second child in June. We wish them congrats and know brother Joseph will be excited too. We also heard that Brian and Sandra have tentative plans to go get Elijah within the upcoming month so we hope to meet him soon.

All is well with our baby. I've been able to feel the baby kick several times in the last week or so. I survived a trip to Seattle last week for work. I wasn't sure about the 4.5 hour plane ride but it went quite well. Seattle's weather was beautiful for us. It only rained one day and they even had record high temps while we were there. We visited the Space Needle, Pike Street Fish Market and Flight Museum. I think there is even a picture of me eating a dungeonous crab floating around somewhere. The seafood was wonderful.

We go next Thursday for the 5 month check-up and ultrasound. Hopefully they will be able to tell us the sex of the baby then. We'll post any results or pictures we get next week.

4 Months

I went yesterday for my 16 week check and everything was fine. They did a blood test to check for the risk factors of birth defects but I don't know when we'll know the results of that. Next checkup is on Nov 8th and hopefully they'll be able to determine the sex then. Tim is really anxious about that visit.

Otherwise things are going well. Energy is finally coming back and other than some heartburn the sickness is over. Now that the volleyball season is over I hope to get to turn my attention towards furniture and plans for getting the house in order.

12 Week Check-up

I went to my OB this morning for the 12 week visit. He said all was fine. I was able to hear the heartbeat on the doppler and he said all seemed fine. Other than some crazy heartburn and cravings for peanut butter and jelly I guess we'll have more news from our next visit on Oct 11 at 16 weeks.

The PB & J is a funny thing though. I've liked it since I was a kid but probably haven't had it since before I was married. Tim doesn't like it and the last I had was probably made by mom at home. In making some for the first time last week I greatly overestimated the amount of peanut butter to start with and of course that meant adding a lot of jelly. Needless to say a week later I'm still eating pb&j from the same batch made last week...

8 Week Ultrasound

We went yesterday for our 8 week ultrasound and everything looks fine. Only one baby. And they think the March 25 due date is very close to correct so we've decided to start sharing the news with friends and family. More news to come...

Lots of Cousins

We'll it looks like our new one will have lots of cousins to play with. We just found out John Warren and Melanie are expecting their second in March too. We are aunt and uncle to their little girl Hannah. Of course they don't know we are having a baby too. This is so hard to keep secret but we wanted to wait until we got through a few OB appointments etc before we spread the word.

And I just read on Sharon's blog that they are home in the states with AnnaMaria (http://babyannamaria.blogspot.com/) and Sandra and Brian have begun their efforts at bring home Elijah (http://elijohnbryant.blogspot.com/). Ok, I stole the blog idea from my cousins. I've enjoyed reading theirs so much. And of course Brad and Carrie have Joseph who will be two in December.

I enjoyed growing up with my cousins so much that I'm looking forward to all the cousins our baby will have to play with at Grandma and Grandpa Storey's house!

We're expecting a baby!

I don't think it has completely set in yet but a blood test at the lab yesterday confirms it-we are going to be parents. I don't really know that my pregnancy is something that anyone wants to read about but I would like to keep track somehow and this seemed to be a good way.

I already had a Dr. appointment yesterday so mentioned that I had taken a home pregnancy test the night before (Wednesday 7/17 before heading out to bible study) and it was positive so he ordered the test. I go back on August 2nd for my first OB visit. Tim is pretty excited but of course we are overwhelmed with so much right now other wise with 2 churches building and volleyball that I feel like we haven't even had time to think.
