Riley & Chocolate Ice Cream
Despite my disapproval, Tim decided to give Riley some chocolate ice cream. She was much more excited about it than the peas she had early in the evening. I think the damage was worse because most of the ice cream just dripped right back out of her mouth onto the chair, her clothes and the couch. You can click on the picture for a larger view. And I don't think the bouncy seat on the couch is exactly the way it is supposed to be used.

Busy Weekend
We had a workday at the church on Saturday. Tim let Riley ride on Gran's tractor in his lap while he move parking bumpers. He put the seat belt around her so she wouldn't fall out and she fell asleep. Pat Hughes noticed her little head was nodding and rescued her. She seemed to enjoy riding on the tractor. Saturday afternoon David and Paula came over to the shop and helped me get Riley's swing set off the trailer and setup. We still have to get it squared up and anchored down but I tested the slide and it works.

6 Month Checkup
Riley went for her 6 month check up this week. She weighs 14.0 pounds and is 25.5 inches long. This puts her in the 60th percentile for her height and 15th percentile for weight. I thought she might have gained more weight since we have started solid foods but she is still gaining at about the same rate she always has. She is now eating squash, sweet potatoes, bananas and avocados along with her rice cereal and she seems to like all of them.

Visiting Family
Last weekend Riley and I made a quick trip to Illinois to visit my family. We spent a little time at my grandparents too. It always seems like there is never enough time to see everyone. I always have big plans of going to visit different people while I'm there and I just seem to run out of time. I snapped some pics of Riley while I was there. The ones from my phone didn't turn out as well.

Pictures from Ike
We took these pictures of Riley on the Sunday morning when Ike moved through. We had the windows blinds open to watch the wind and trees and Riley really enjoyed looking out. The last picture is of some corn that was blown down. It is hard to see in the picture but normally you would see a lot of tassels sticking up but there are only a few here and there still sticking up.

Oldie but Goodie
I've posted this picture before, but sometimes you just need a laugh. This is one of my favorites. Riley makes some of the funniest faces sometimes.

Ready Just In Time
We all managed to get ready yesterday just before the power went out. We lost power around 9am and it didn't come back on until about 3:30 or so. We had lots of wind damage in our area. Our neighbor lost her garage and car to a large tree that fell and Tim's parents pretty much totaled their Tahoe when a tree fell on them on the way to church. We were very fortunate that no one was hurt. We had both church services Sunday morning without power. Except for the warm conditions they were both very good services. Many people in our area are still without power and some have lost vehicles, buildings and tobacco barns due to the wind. I've never seen so many power lines snapped off in mid air before. Several of the schools are out this morning because there is no power. There is a lot of corn down in the area but I just talked to Tim and he said ours isn't as bad as it could be. He's fussed all summer that he planted to many beans this year but from the way it looks he may be glad he did now. I lost my trellis at the farm. I hope the clematis and climbing rose can be saved but the trellis is fireword. I'm not the upset, I was wanting to redo it anyway. Maybe I can get some pictures of the storm damage to put up on the blog soon. In the meantime I have some pictures of Riley from yesterday. She is wearing a dress that Ashley's parents bought for her and new shoes (new to her, they were a weerun's sale find). She was making some interesting faces.

Lucky Girl
On Labor Day, Dad, Mom, Jesse & Ashley came down to visit. Mom and Ashley kept Riley while the rest of us disassembled this monsterous swing set. In this picture dad is getting her to laugh. She can't even walk but she already has a jungle gym. I think it was the hottest day of the summer but with the right tools and plenty of help we had it down in just about an hour. This was another craigslist find. Someone bought a house in town and it was in the backyard. I paid her $50 and we got this set. It has a big slide, monkey bars, 3 swings and the two story fort complete with climbing rope, bell, stearing wheel, telescope etc. It is still on the trailer at this point but as the cooler weather comes we hope to get it put up. It has a toddler swing so maybe Riley will get to swing on it a little before winter gets here.

Riley Saying Da-Da
Riley has started saying what we think is "da-da". We don't think she associates it with Tim yet but if we say it to her she will sometimes say it back.

Liberty Fest
We went to Liberty Fest at my parents church this past Sunday afternoon. The have a huge festival for the community and my brother Jesse sets off a huge fireworks display. We had a good day but it was really hot which was a little rough for Riley. We got some good pictures of her with my Grandpa Storey, her Aunt Ashley and cousin Joseph. In the picture with Tim and Joseph we were trying to shield her from "Candy Canon" that kept going off. The tootsie rolls that were raining down kept hitting her.
