We took a great trip to Mississippi to see my Aunt and Uncle in Laurel. Riley had a great time telling Aunt Deloris and Uncle Sheldon stories. She and Grammy and Paw Paw played on the enourmous swing set at a local park and Riley really took up with my cousin Roy. He and his daughter played with her which she loved - failed to get that picture :(
The first picture we used in our Christmas card. I may have posted it already but can't remember. Riley, Reese and Taylor were all playing dress up on Christmas day. Taylor was quite a gun fighter. Riley was sporting her protective gear for her new roller skates. She was a cute little skater-girl.
Tim picked this dress out for Riley in February at the Farm Show last year on a clearance rack. She looked very cute in it. I think she gets her modeling skills from her dad!
Sleepy-eyed opening of Christmas presents at home on Christmas day. Lots of smiles and pillow pets of all sizes. The wagon in the picture was originally one we bought at Tim's great-grandfather's sale after he died. Tim believed that maybe it was one Gran played with when he was a kid. It was all brown with rust and broken when we got it but were able to restore it to playable condition again.
We made a winter-time trip to the zoo in Evansville. It was cold but a beautiful day and the animals were fairly active. There were only about a dozen people there so we pretty much had the park to ourselves. It was a nice visit.
On the Monday after Christmas we took the kiddos to Norris City to the tennis courts so they could ride their bikes and play with their new roller skates. Riley borrowed a bike but they had a lot of fun "racing" down the court.
We don't know this family but stumbled across their story on another blog. Their story is heart-breaking but their show of faith is extraordinary. They are both an example and a reason to be thankful for what you have.
